Clinical Exercise at Ten
Transcript
Welcome to Ten Health and Fitness. I am Santiago, Head of Exercise and a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. This video explains our clinical exercise service, and how carefully guided movement can support you when you are living with a health condition. Clinical exercise is specialist, one-to-one service where we prescribe movement specifically for people living with a chronic health condition. We support clients with cancer; heart disease; diabetes; menopause; and long term pain or breathing conditions. Clinical exercise is quite different from a standard gym session. A normal workout is usually driven by what you want to achieve, such as losing weight. Clinical exercise is led instead by what your body genuinely needs, and it calls for training that goes beyond a typical gym setting. Clinical Exercise Physiologists are qualified healthcare professionals, with advanced training in how exercise affects the body, and across different health conditions. We do not simply set workouts. We prescribe carefully measured movement; using exercise as a genuine tool and intervention to support your health, and recovery. Your journey with us begins with a thorough one to one assessment. We take time to understand your diagnosis; your treatment; and your personal goals - so we can plan safely around you. Your safety always comes first, and we plan each session around the unique demands of your condition. We closely monitor your vital signs and physiological responses throughout your training. For heart conditions, this means tracking your heart rate, blood pressure, and exertion levels in real time. For those undergoing oncology care, we carefully adjust the intensity and type of movement to align with your specific cancer treatment, energy levels, and recovery stage. Whatever your diagnosis, we ensure your exercise remains safe, effective, and supportive. From there, we design a programme that is completely bespoke to you. We deliver it one to one, and we gently adjust it as your needs and your abilities change over time. We also work closely with your wider medical team throughout your programme. With your permission, we can speak directly with your surgeons or consultants, so we fully understand your treatment. We then feed back to them on the progress that you are making with us. Clinical exercise also sits within our Circle of Care. This means we can support you as you move from illness; through rehabilitation; and on towards everyday strength and fitness. We are with you at each stage of your recovery. A diagnosis can make the idea of exercise feel daunting. But you do not have to face it alone. If you would like to find out more, please speak to our team.
